New Members
New singing members are always welcome, whatever voice part. If you enjoy singing and a social atmosphere - do give it a go! The Kirkcudbright Choral Society is a small and friendly choir, and would like to get bigger. Age doesn't matter, though it would be good to have people who could help bring down the average age!
There are no auditions or other entry formalities. No choral experience is required - although it is expected that you are able to sing in tune, and enjoy singing! Nor do you have to be able to sight-read, as it is something that you will soon pick up.
Subscriptions are £35 per season, although there is the discretion to modify fees for students and non-wage earners - so do not let the idea of cost put you off. Scores are made available without charge - all you need is a voice, an enjoyment of music - and a pencil for the notes you make during rehearsals! In order to encourage participation by young singers, the Society has established a Bursary Fund. This effectively provides free membership of the Society each year to young people of between 15 and 25 years of age.
