Kirkcudbright Choral Society
Welcome to the Kirkcudbright Choral Society (KCS). Since 1893, we have existed in order to promote choral music through the organisation of annual concerts in Kirkcudbright, the "Artists' Town" in Dumfries and Galloway.
We number between sixty and seventy singers who share a passion for great choral music and who enjoy the challenge of working under the expert guidance of our Musical Director and Conductor, Michael Appleford, with accompanying professional soloists and musicians.
The 2011-12 season is well underway, with excellent attendance at rehearsals for this year's Spring Concert that includes the extremely popular Carl Orff's “Carmina Burana”. The concerts always attract active participation from local and surrounding areas and, in particular, with this year being the Society's 120th anniversary, there is a celebratory "Soup-and-Sweet Lunch" fund-raising event organised for the 17th February.
We are a friendly Society and, without auditions, welcome all who share the joy of singing in parts and are willing to bring enthusiasm and commitment to performing the music we sing. Why not try us out by singing with us at our Monday evening rehearsals 7.30pm at Kirkcudbright Church Hall? We particularly need sopranos this year although all new singers are warmly welcome to join us.
Pamela Bayes, our Membership Secretary, would be delighted to tell you more about membership. Please contact her at 01557 331292.
